# Accounts and permissions

To use Smartly, the platform needs to be able to create, preview and publish ads, access analytics, and manage catalogs on your behalf in all channels you want to use it for.

## The Ad Account Authorizer

Each channel needs a designated Ad Account Authorizer. This can be either a member of your agency or a client representative. This user must have full Admin access to all relevant ad accounts, because Smartly needs that access.

This role

- Connects ad accounts to Smartly and sets up the permissions
- Manages pixels in Smartly

If your client can’t grant these permissions to your agency, a client representative must assume the Ad Account Authorizer role.

To find out what permissions the Ad Account Authorizer needs in each channel, see [Ad accounts and permissions in Smartly](/v1/docs/ad-accounts-and-permissions-in-smartly).

## Connecting ad accounts

For instructions on how to connect each ad account to Smartly, see the following:

- [Connect a Meta ad account](/v1/docs/connect-a-meta-ad-account) (don’t forget to [add the Facebook pages](/v1/docs/add-facebook-pages), too!)
- [Connect a Pinterest ad account](/v1/docs/connect-a-pinterest-ad-account)
- [Connect a TikTok ad account](/v1/docs/connect-tiktok-ad-accounts)
- [Connect a Snapchat ad account](/v1/docs/connect-a-snapchat-ad-account)
- [Connect a Google ad account](/v1/docs/connect-google-ads-accounts)
